A slab that waves or dips cannot be fixed by the finish flooring itself. Tile grout joints will crack, plank will rock, and polish will show every low spot. The slab has to be flat before the finish goes down. That is where Ardex self-leveling underlayment enters the job.
We measure the slab, identify the high and low points, and pour Ardex SLU to bring the entire surface into the tolerance your finish-flooring installer requires. The Ardex primer bonds the new pour to the existing concrete permanently, so the SLU does not separate or delaminate over time. This is the Ardex-system approach: primer, product, and process all matched to one another.
The work fits into the build sequence before the finish trade arrives. Coordinate with our Ardex repair mortars if the slab has spalls or cracks that need patching first, and with our Ardex waterproofing if the floor is below grade or in a wet zone.

Assess slab elevation
We laser-scan the slab to find high spots, low spots, and the overall plane. We calculate the SLU depth needed at each location to hit the finish-flooring tolerance, then confirm the plan with the tile or plank installer.
Prep and prime
The slab is diamond-ground to Ardex profile, dust and contaminants removed, and the Ardex primer rolled across the entire surface. The primer is the bond layer; without it, the SLU will not stick.
Pour and level
Ardex SLU is mixed to spec water ratio and poured across the floor. We gauge-rake and allow the material to self-level to a flat plane. The pour window is tight; we work quickly to use the material before it sets.
Cure and handoff
The SLU cures on the Ardex schedule. We verify the final flatness against the finish spec, then hand the slab off to the tile, plank, or polish installer ready for the next phase.

Planning Self-Leveling Into the Build
The best SLU projects are scheduled in advance, not added as an emergency fix. We work with the finish-flooring contractor to agree on the target flatness, the pour depth, and the cure timeline. This coordination prevents surprises and keeps the job moving.
If the slab also needs Ardex overlay or decorative finish, we can spec that into the same system. If there are cracks or spalls, we address those with Ardex repair products before the SLU goes down. The whole Ardex range works together.
