Concrete Repair Mortars Built for Las Vegas Conditions

When a crack opens, a spall forms, or a slab section fails, the repair needs engineered chemistry matched to the specific damage. Ardex repair mortars come in formulations for wide cracks, vertical wall patches, horizontal slab surfaces, and deep structural sections. We diagnose the repair type, select the right Ardex product, apply the bonded-primer system, and hand off a repair built to last. Free assessment on every job.

Engineered for the damage

How Ardex Repair Mortars Solve Different Damage

Concrete damage comes in different forms, and each form demands different chemistry. A hairline crack in a slab needs a flowable, flexible repair that won't re-crack under thermal movement. A spalled edge on a wall needs a high-strength patch that won't sag under gravity. A deep structural section needs a mortar that cures without internal cracking. One generic product cannot handle all three situations.

Ardex engineered a range of repair mortars, each formulated for a specific damage pattern and load condition. Our role is to assess the damage, classify it correctly, and install the matched Ardex product with the bonded-primer protocol that locks the repair to the existing concrete. The system works because the product is right for the situation.

Pair Ardex self-leveling underlayment when the repair area needs flatness correction, integrate Ardex waterproofing if moisture is a factor, and explore the full Ardex product line for related work.

Installation sequence

The Ardex Repair Process in Las Vegas

  1. Assess the damage type

We examine the crack, spall, or structural failure and classify it by location (horizontal, vertical, deep), load profile, and substrate condition. This classification determines which Ardex repair product is specified.

  2. Prepare the concrete surface

The repair area is cleaned to Ardex specification, saw-cut to a clean edge where needed, and all loose material, dust, and contaminants are removed to expose sound concrete.

  3. Apply bonded primer

The Ardex bonded primer is rolled or brushed onto the prepped substrate. This primer is the critical step that ensures the repair mortar bonds permanently to the existing concrete rather than sitting loose.

  4. Mix and place the mortar

The matched Ardex repair mortar is mixed to manufacturer ratios and placed at the engineered thickness for that product. Placement technique varies by product type and repair location.

  5. Cure and finish

The repair cures per Ardex schedule. Once cured, the surface is finished to match the surrounding concrete texture and gloss. Color match is approximate; we set expectations up front.

Why repairs fail

Mismatched Repair Mortars Are the Root Cause

We regularly inspect failed repairs where a contractor used a single general-purpose mortar for every situation. The result: vertical patches that sagged, deep repairs that cracked internally, fast-set products that didn't bond properly to damp substrates. The Ardex range exists because one product cannot solve every repair problem. Matching the mortar to the damage is the discipline that separates lasting repairs from temporary patches.

Our assessment is free and thorough. We identify the repair type, specify the correct Ardex product, and quote in writing before any work begins. Coordinate with Ardex overlay systems if the repair is part of a larger resurfacing project, and with our other brand specialties for complementary work.

Common questions

Ardex Repair Questions, Answered

Product matching, bonded primer, vertical repair and warranty.

Different repair situations have different load profiles, set time requirements, and substrate conditions. A horizontal patch product placed vertically will sag; a fast-set product placed in a deep section will crack. Matching product to situation is what makes Ardex repairs hold.
Yes. The Ardex bonded primer is what makes the repair material bond permanently to the existing concrete. Skipping or substituting voids the system warranty and risks delamination.
Yes, with the Ardex vertical-repair product that has non-sag rheology. Using a horizontal product on vertical work is one of the most common failure patterns we see in non-Ardex-spec repairs.
Properly matched and installed Ardex repairs last decades. The bond is engineered to outlast the surrounding concrete in most service environments.
Close, not exact. Ardex repair mortars come in standard colors that approximate concrete gray; exact match to old or stained concrete is not achievable. We are honest about the visible difference up front.
