Uneven Slabs Made Flat with Self-Leveling Underlayment

When a Las Vegas slab sits too high in one corner and dips in another, self-leveling compound is the answer. We prime the substrate, pour the leveler, and let gravity do the work. The result is a flat, bonded surface ready for tile, plank, polish, or micro-topping. No shimming. No workarounds. Just a floor that is actually level. Free written estimate on every project.

  • Engineered bond to substrate
  • Cures fast, walkable in hours
  • Flat enough for any finish

The flatness problem

Why Uneven Slabs Ruin Finished Floors

A slab that is not flat is a slab that will fail whatever finish goes on top. Tile cracks at the grout line because the substrate moves. Vinyl plank shows lippage at every seam because the slab is not level. Polished concrete looks patchy because the grinder cannot cut evenly across a wavy surface. Micro-topping peels because it cannot bond to a dip.

Self-leveling underlayment solves this before the finish is installed. The compound is engineered to flow, settle, and cure into a hard, flat surface that bonds chemically to the substrate below. Once cured, the new surface is the actual floor that the finish sits on.

The finish then goes down on a substrate that is actually flat. Polished concrete cuts evenly. Epoxy bonds without voids. Stain absorbs uniformly. Micro-topping adheres without peeling. The result is a floor that looks and performs as intended.

The sequence

How Self-Leveling Compound Gets Poured

  1. Measure the substrate

We use a laser level to map high and low spots, confirm the slab is sound and dry, and determine how much leveler is needed to reach the target elevation.

  2. Prime and contain

The substrate gets a manufacturer-matched primer applied to the entire floor. We set perimeter dams so the leveler stays where it should and does not run into adjacent spaces.

  3. Mix and pour

The self-leveling compound is mixed to the published water ratio, poured onto the primed substrate, and gently worked to the marked elevation. The material flows and settles on its own.

  4. Cure and finish

The compound sets to walkable in a few hours and cures fully over the manufacturer's window. Once cured, the new surface is ready for tile, plank, polish, or any other finish.

Common applications

When Self-Leveling Prep Becomes Essential

Renovation floors are the biggest use case. Old slabs in older homes, patched slabs, slabs that have settled over decades, rarely meet the flatness that modern finishes require. Self-leveling brings them into spec without a full tear-out.

It also sits under heated floor systems as part of the radiant stack, under micro-topping when extra fill is needed, and under garage floor epoxy when the slab is too uneven for a direct coat. The flatness is what every system above depends on to perform.

Self-Leveling Underlayment FAQs

When it is needed, what substrates it bonds to, thickness limits and cure times in Las Vegas.

Not always. If the substrate is already within tolerance for the finish you want, self-leveling is unnecessary. We measure first; if the dips and humps fall outside what the finish can handle, self-leveling is the honest fix.
All three, with the right primer and product for the substrate. We pick the matched primer and self-leveling product for what the floor sits on, so the bond is engineered for the surface, not assumed.
Most products handle up to about an inch in a single pour, more in lifts with proper bonding. We size the pour to the substrate's worst dip and the finish's flatness requirement.
No, it is a finishing prep, not a structural floor. It bonds to a sound substrate and brings it flat. If the slab below is structurally compromised, that has to be fixed first.
Walkable in a few hours, ready for tile or plank typically the next day, ready for polishing or staining once fully cured to the manufacturer's published window. We give you the exact timeline on the project.

Old kitchen slab was a wave. Self-leveling brought it dead flat and the tile went down without a single shim. The result looks like a brand-new build.

Polished the basement floor after a self-leveling pour. The polish was perfect because the substrate was actually flat for the first time.

Plywood substrate in our addition. They primed it properly and the leveler bonded so well I forgot it was on plywood. The plank floor sits perfect.

Heated floor underlayment plus self-leveling plus micro-topping plus polish. Whole stack done in sequence and the finished floor is dead flat with even radiant heat.
