Concrete Countertops Built for Las Vegas Outdoor Kitchens

Outdoor concrete counters face a different set of demands than indoor ones. Rain, snow, freeze-thaw cycles, UV exposure, and salt drift all work against the slab. We design and pour outdoor counters with air-entrained freeze-thaw mix, slope every surface to shed water, and seal with an exterior-grade finish. The result is a durable counter for your BBQ surround, pool bar, or outdoor kitchen that stays intact through Las Vegas winters.

The outdoor difference

Why Outdoor Concrete Counters Need Special Engineering

Indoor concrete counters are designed to handle daily use, heat, and spills. Outdoor counters must also resist water infiltration, freeze-thaw damage, ultraviolet degradation, and salt spray. The concrete mix, surface profile, edge detail, and sealer system all shift to meet these demands.

We specify an air-entrained freeze-thaw mix that allows water inside the concrete to expand safely during freeze cycles without spalling the surface. Every horizontal surface slopes to shed water rather than collect it. Edges are profiled so meltwater runs off cleanly instead of pooling along the rim. The final sealer is rated for exterior exposure, UV resistance, and our regional climate.

Outdoor counters integrate with the broader outdoor space. See pool deck work for adjacent surfaces, concrete patios for the base level, and indoor countertops if you want to match finishes between inside and outside.

The build sequence

How Outdoor Concrete Counters Get Built in Las Vegas

  1. Measure and plan the layout

We visit the site to measure the outdoor footprint, note any appliance cutouts (cooktop, sink, burner), confirm the bar overhang, and see how the counter ties into existing hardscape, shade structures, or roofed areas.

  2. Build forms with drainage slope

Forms are constructed to slope every horizontal surface for water runoff, edges are profiled to shed meltwater cleanly, and reinforcement is sized for the span and freeze-thaw loading. Appliance openings are framed to spec.

  3. Pour and finish the slab

We place an air-entrained freeze-thaw concrete mix, consolidate it fully, and allow proper curing time. The surface is then ground, honed, and finished to your chosen texture, usually slightly more textured than indoor for grip and traction.

  4. Seal and schedule maintenance

An exterior-grade sealer is applied to protect against UV, freeze-thaw, and salt drift. We provide a re-seal schedule (typically every few years in Las Vegas) so you know when to refresh the protective coat.

Built to last outdoors

How Outdoor Counters Stay Intact Through Winter

A concrete counter designed for indoor use will spall and crack by its second winter if placed outside. A counter poured without slope will hold meltwater and stain. The mix design and the geometry are the foundation of outdoor durability; everything else is aesthetic.

When the outdoor counter is part of a larger outdoor space, we coordinate it with the outdoor kitchen structure, the stamped patio below, and any pool deck connection so levels and finishes align seamlessly.

Common questions

Outdoor Concrete Countertop Questions, Answered

Freeze-thaw mix, drainage, sealers and matching outdoor counters to indoor.

Yes, when poured with a freeze-thaw-rated air-entrained mix, sloped to drain rather than pool, and sealed with an exterior sealer. The mix and the geometry are what makes the difference; an indoor countertop poured outside will fail; ours is engineered for here.
Outdoor sealers need refreshing every few years in Las Vegas because UV, freeze-thaw and salt drift wear them faster than indoor conditions. We include the re-seal schedule in the quote so the maintenance is in your plan from day one.
Yes, often. We can match color and finish family between an indoor concrete countertop and an outdoor one, with the outdoor version having slightly more texture for grip and an exterior sealer for weather. We bring samples to confirm match.
Yes. Cooktops, side burners, sinks and ice bins can all be cut into outdoor concrete counters during forming; the dimensions, drainage and clearances are confirmed with the appliance specs before forming. Common on outdoor-kitchen projects.
Lead time is similar to indoor, several weeks from template to install because of curing time. Outdoor installs sometimes wait on weather windows so the new counter is not exposed to rain before sealing; we schedule around that.

BBQ surround counter with a side-burner cutout. Two winters in, zero spalling, drains beautifully, sealer is doing its job. Outdoor kitchen feels permanent now.

Pool-bar counter in a finish that matches our indoor kitchen counters. Same family, slightly more texture outside. The match is a real conversation piece.

They were straight that outdoor counters need re-sealing every few years and built that into the price up front. The first refresh kept the surface looking new. Worth doing.

Edge profile drains meltwater perfectly, no ice ridges along the front like other concrete counters we have seen. The detail work is what makes this last.
