Las Vegas Backyards Built Around Outdoor Kitchen Concrete

Grills, prep counters, and refrigerator cutouts all rest on concrete that has to stay level and hold the load through Nevada summers. Las Vegas Concrete pours the cooking-station slab and casts the counters on site, finished to tie into the surrounding patio. Free written estimate on every project.

Load, level, and finish

What the Concrete Must Do Before a Las Vegas Outdoor Kitchen Goes In

Start with the numbers: a drop-in grill alone can push 300 to 500 pounds, and once you add a stone or concrete counter run, a refrigerator drawer, and a side burner, the cooking station is carrying real structural weight. The concrete slab underneath has to be sized for that load from the start, not retrofitted after the fact.

That means a compacted gravel base, proper slab thickness, rebar or wire mesh sized to the actual equipment weight, and a perimeter detail that lets the kitchen frame anchor without rocking. Counters are cast in place over the station or pre-cast in a controlled setting and set on site. Either way, the mix is outdoor-grade: air-entrained for freeze-thaw, sealed for UV and food-contact surfaces where the layout calls for it.

Finish matters too. A cooking station that reads as a separate concrete island looks out of place next to a stamped concrete patio or a pool deck. We match the edge profile, color, and surface texture to whatever is already poured or planned nearby. From layout to handoff

How a Las Vegas Outdoor Kitchen Slab Gets Poured

  1. Measure the site and map the layout

We walk the yard with you, note where the grill, counter, sink, and any refrigerator space land, and confirm finished elevations relative to the existing patio or pool deck. Utility chase locations for gas, water, and electrical are marked at this stage.

  2. Excavate, compact, and form

The cooking-station footprint is excavated to the depth the load requires. Gravel base goes in and is compacted in lifts. Forms are set at the correct finished height with the slight slope away from the house that keeps water moving off the slab.

  3. Set embeds, reinforce, and pour

Conduit sleeves and anchor bolts for the kitchen frame go in before the pour. Rebar is placed to the spacing the load calculation calls for. Concrete is poured, consolidated, and finished to the specified texture, whether broom, trowel, or stamped to match the patio.

  4. Cure, seal, and hand off to trades

The slab cures on schedule before any load goes on it. Counters are cast or installed once the pad is ready. The plumber, electrician, and gas fitter then land their connections through the pre-set embeds, and the kitchen frame goes in on a solid, level base.

One connected yard

Tying the Outdoor Kitchen Concrete Into the Rest of the Yard

Most Henderson and Summerlin backyards that get an outdoor kitchen already have a patio slab, a pool deck, or both. The kitchen concrete has to read as part of that existing layout, not as a patch poured in later. When we design the station pad and counters alongside the surrounding flatwork, the color, finish, and joint lines carry through without a visible seam.

Adding a kitchen to an existing concrete patio is straightforward when the base slab is sound. We core or saw-cut the tie-in points, pour a separate footing under the heavier station loads, and bond the new concrete to the old with the right admixture so the joint holds. If the existing slab has settled or cracked, we assess it first. A patio repair or concrete sealing pass may be the right first step before the kitchen goes in.

For yards being built from scratch, the kitchen slab, the surrounding exposed aggregate patio, and any poured retaining walls are sequenced so each pour supports the next. That coordination keeps the finished yard level, properly drained, and consistent in appearance from the back door to the property line.

Common questions

Outdoor Kitchen Concrete in Las Vegas, Your Questions Answered

Slab thickness, counter options, utility coordination, and adding a kitchen to an existing patio.

Yes, when poured outdoor-grade and sealed properly. Outdoor concrete counters use an air-entrained mix, are detailed for water shedding, and get a sealer rated for UV, weather and food contact where needed.
Yes, usually. Built-in grills can weigh several hundred pounds before stone or counters, and the pad needs reinforcement and proper thickness for that load plus the people using the kitchen. We size it to the actual installed weight.
We pour the concrete and coordinate with the trades, plumber, electrician, gas fitter, who handle the connections. Embeds and chase routes are placed in the concrete before the pour so the trades can land cleanly.
Yes, when it is designed as part of the wider outdoor living concrete. Matching the finish, colour and elevations to the patio and pool deck around it makes the kitchen read as part of the yard, not a separate feature.
Yes. The pad and counter pour into or onto the existing patio with proper bonding and a separate footing for the heavier loads. We assess the existing concrete to confirm it can carry the addition.

★★★★★

Built-in grill on a level pad with a wrap-around counter. Two summers of cooking and entertaining and the pad has not moved, the counter has not stained, the sealer is still beading water.

Coordinated the gas and electrical with the trades, embeds where they needed them. Trades had nothing to complain about. Kitchen runs perfect.

Counter cast in place to match the existing patio finish. The seam is invisible and the counter feels solid as a rock under the granite slab we put on top.
