Stop Basement Water Before It Damages the Foundation

Groundwater finds every crack and seam in a foundation that lacks proper exterior protection. Las Vegas Concrete digs to the footing, applies a bonded membrane, installs new weeping tile in drainage stone, and backfills so water moves away from the wall instead of pooling against it. The result is a dry basement for decades.

The real problem with interior fixes

Why Interior Sealers Fail and Exterior Waterproofing Works

When water appears on the inside of a basement wall, the problem is already on the outside. Painting the interior with sealer or epoxy covers the stain but leaves the wall saturated behind it. Freeze-thaw cycles continue to work the concrete apart, and within a few years the paint peels and the leak returns.

Exterior waterproofing addresses the source. We excavate the wall down to the footing, clean away old coatings, apply a membrane that bonds to the concrete, cover it with drainage board, and backfill with stone that channels groundwater down to the weeping tile instead of letting it stand against the slab.

This is the same system we install on every new foundation pour before backfill, and it is what we retrofit onto existing foundations that have started leaking. When paired with structural crack sealing, it keeps the basement dry for the life of the building.

The sequence

How We Install Foundation Waterproofing in Las Vegas

  1. Assess the wet spots

We identify which walls are leaking, check the grade and gutter system above, and determine whether the weeping tile is clogged, failed, or never installed. This tells us the scope of work.

  2. Excavate to the footing

We dig down the full height of the affected wall sections, expose the foundation concrete, remove old waterproofing or coatings, and inspect for structural cracks before the new system goes on.

  3. Apply the membrane

A bonded waterproofing membrane is applied from footing to grade, drainage board is installed over it, and the wall is allowed to cure before any backfill touches it.

  4. Install drainage and restore

New weeping tile is laid at the footing in clean stone, the trench is backfilled with drainage stone, the grade is restored, and gutters are extended away from the wall.

When the basement stays wet

Partial Waterproofing Works When the Leak Is Localized

Not every wet basement requires the entire foundation to be excavated and waterproofed. If the leak is confined to one wall or one corner, we can excavate and treat that section only, which saves time and cost. We assess honestly whether the rest of the wall is likely to fail soon or whether it can wait.

Combining exterior waterproofing with foundation repair on walls that have cracked or bowed is the standard approach for serious leaks. We also pair it with basement finishing work so the space is usable and protected from the start.

Common questions

Foundation Waterproofing Questions, Answered

Interior vs exterior, weeping tile, retrofit work and what waterproofing actually keeps out.

Because the water is on the outside of the wall. Interior sealer paints over the symptom; the foundation behind it is still saturated and still freezing and thawing, which keeps working the wall apart. Exterior waterproofing stops the water from ever reaching the wall.
On almost every job, yes. If we are excavated down to the footing for waterproofing, replacing or installing weeping tile then is the right call. Bedding it in clean stone and tying it to the drainage system finishes the system.
Yes, if the leak is localised to one wall or one corner, we can excavate and waterproof that section only. We will be honest in the assessment about whether the rest of the wall is likely to fail next.
It seals over them from the outside, but a structural crack still needs crack repair on its own. The two services often go together, and we sequence them so the crack is properly addressed before the membrane covers it.
A properly installed exterior membrane with drainage board and new weeping tile is a decades-long fix. We use the same systems on new installations that are designed for the full life of the building.

Two interior sealer jobs failed before we called Las Vegas Concrete. They went to the outside, did it right, and the basement has been dry through two springs since.

Excavated one wall, replaced the weeping tile, put on a proper membrane, restored the landscaping cleanly. Wall is dry, yard looks like nothing happened.

Honest that the leak was just one corner and we did not need to do the whole foundation. Saved us a lot. Corner has stayed dry through the rain we had since.

Big excavation, big mess on day one, but they put the yard back together by the end and the basement is bone dry. Worth doing once and properly.
