The tile trade asks for Mapei because the Mapei system warranty covers the substrate and the tile install on top. Ultraplan works for shallow to moderate depth; Novoplan handles thicker applications and structural specs. The Mapei primer bonds the SLU to the concrete slab, and that bond is what the tile installer counts on.
We source Mapei products, apply the Mapei primer to the prepped substrate, mix and pour the SLU to the target depth, and manage the cure schedule. The result is a tile-ready floor that the tile contractor can warrant their work on. If the project also needs Mapei waterproofing for wet zones, we coordinate that into the substrate sequence. If the spec calls for Ardex self-leveling instead, we install Ardex with the same rigor. The choice between Mapei and Ardex depends on the tile contractor's preference and the project warranty path.

How Mapei Self-Leveling Gets Installed
Assess substrate and product fit
We measure the slab, identify high and low spots, and confirm with the tile installer whether Ultraplan or Novoplan is the right choice for the target depth and finish spec.
Grind and prime the slab
The concrete surface is diamond-ground to Mapei profile, cleaned of dust and contaminants, and the matched Mapei primer is rolled on to ensure permanent bond.
Mix, pour, and level
Mapei SLU is mixed to the exact water ratio, poured across the floor, and allowed to self-level. The working window is tight, so we move the pour quickly to use the full window.
Cure and hand off
The slab cures to Mapei schedule, final flatness is verified against the tile spec, and the substrate is ready for the tile installer to begin their work.

When the tile contractor specifies Mapei, they are protecting their own warranty path. The Mapei system warranty covers the substrate and the tile install together. We respect that spec and install Mapei to Mapei standards, so the tile trade gets the substrate they expect and can warrant their work.
