Multi-Level Parking Deck Concrete in Las Vegas

Suspended decks carry live loads that ground-level lots never see. Salt spray and meltwater attack the reinforcement. A slab failure is a structural failure. We build parking decks to the engineer's specifications, using chloride-resistant concrete mixes, proper rebar cover, and protective sealers rated for Las Vegas weather. Deck durability

Why Parking Decks Corrode and How to Stop It

Salt from winter roads gets tracked onto the deck by tires. When snow melts, the brine seeps through cracks and reaches the rebar. Rust forms, expands, and spalls the concrete surface. Within a decade, structural sections can fail. This is why deck concrete is fundamentally different from a ground-level lot: the reinforcement is the structure itself.

We specify low-permeability, air-entrained concrete with corrosion inhibitors, place rebar with engineered cover depth, and apply deck sealers that shed water rather than absorb it. The maintenance plan is written into the project handoff so the owner knows when to reseal and inspect.

Our approach spans all parking work, from new parking lot pours to parking structure repair on existing decks. When a structure ties into ground-level work, we coordinate drainage and elevations so both systems perform.

Construction sequence

How We Pour a Parking Deck in Las Vegas

  1. Review engineer specs and drawings

The structural engineer specifies the slab thickness, reinforcement layout, concrete mix design, and live load capacity. We confirm our forming and pour plan against those specs before any work begins.

  2. Set forms and place rebar

Suspended deck forms are set with the correct camber, rebar is staged with the specified cover depth and spacing, post-tension cables are installed if required, and the layout is verified by the engineer before concrete arrives.

  3. Place chloride-resistant concrete

The concrete is air-entrained, low-permeability, with corrosion inhibitors per the engineer's spec. It is placed, consolidated, and finished to the deck slope so water sheds and does not pond against the slab.

  4. Cure, seal, and hand off maintenance

The deck cures per schedule, the specified chloride-resistant sealer is applied, and the maintenance and reseal schedule is documented in writing for the property owner.

Ongoing protection

Why Sealer Maintenance Extends Deck Life

A properly built deck will perform for 30+ years if the sealer is reapplied on schedule. Every few years in Las Vegas, UV and freeze-thaw cycles wear the sealer thin. When the sealer fails, chloride penetrates again. We deliver a maintenance schedule with every project and return on the intervals to reseal.

Skipping maintenance is the fastest way to lose a deck. Even an engineered-perfect slab will spall and fail within 10-15 years if the sealer is neglected. We coordinate parking structure repair on existing decks, perform decorative concrete work on adjacent surfaces, and manage the full parking system including ground-level lots.

Common questions

Parking Deck Questions, Answered

Chloride resistance, sealer maintenance, live load, and new vs. repair work.

Yes. Structures use lower-permeability, chloride-resistant mixes with corrosion inhibitors and more reinforcement protection. Ground-level lots take chloride exposure but the rebar is less critical to building structure; in a deck, rebar corrosion is structural failure.
Penetrating silane or siloxane sealers and traffic-bearing membrane systems are common, depending on the deck spec. Reapplication every few years is typical in Las Vegas because UV and freeze-thaw wear sealers faster than in milder climates.
Both. We pour decks on new parking-structure construction under the engineer's drawings, and we perform structural concrete repair on existing structures where spalling, corrosion, or joint failure has begun. The scope drives the approach.
The structural engineer designs the slab and reinforcement for the specified live load (passenger vehicles, fire access, snow load). We follow the engineered drawings exactly; the load capacity is a structural property of the design, not something we adjust on site.
From several weeks for a single-deck overlay to many months for a full structure. The engineered project plan drives the timeline; the full schedule is in the quote and coordinated with the engineer and general contractor.
