Grip-Rated Slip-Resistant Flooring for Las Vegas Facilities

Kitchens, freezer zones, wash-down areas and locker rooms demand flooring with measurable slip resistance. Las Vegas Concrete builds anti-slip systems using broadcast aggregate locked into the concrete slab or textured coating finishes that meet your facility's slip-rating requirement. We specify, install and verify the system to keep your team safe and your liability exposure managed. Free written estimate on every project.

Grip matters in commercial spaces

Why Slip-Resistant Flooring Is a Liability Essential

A single slip-and-fall incident in a commercial kitchen, processing plant or locker room can cost tens of thousands in medical, legal and operational expenses. Slip-resistant flooring is not a cosmetic upgrade; it is risk mitigation that insurance carriers actively require in wet zones.

The difference between a floor that holds its grip and one that wears smooth comes down to how the aggregate is installed. When silica, quartz or proprietary aggregate is broadcast into a wet primer coat and then sealed under a topcoat, the texture becomes part of the slab itself. Aggregate sprinkled on top of a finished coating will shed within weeks. We build the system that stays grip-rated for years.

Our commercial floor work includes slip-resistant zones paired with epoxy flooring in the same facility, or retrofitted onto polished concrete where grip is needed most. We also coordinate with self-leveling underlayment if the slab needs prep work first.

Installation sequence

How Slip-Resistant Flooring Gets Built in Las Vegas

  1. Identify grip zones

We walk the facility and mark which areas require slip-resistant flooring (food prep, wash-down, freezer access, locker rooms), confirm the slip-rating standard your insurance or industry code calls for, and design the system for each zone.

  2. Prepare the slab

The concrete is ground to the right profile, old coatings and contaminants removed, cracks sealed, and the surface cleaned to accept the primer coat without adhesion issues.

  3. Broadcast aggregate

The primer or body coat is applied to the prepped slab, and aggregate (silica sand, quartz, or specialty blend) is broadcast into the wet coat at the correct rate to achieve the target slip rating.

  4. Seal and verify

The topcoat is applied at the right thickness to lock the aggregate in place while keeping the texture exposed, the slab cures to full strength, and the finished grip rating is tested against the specification.

Common installation mistakes

Slip-Resistant Flooring Fails When Aggregate Sizing Mismatches Use

The most frequent anti-slip failure we encounter is aggregate that is either too coarse for the environment (a kitchen floor with abrasive texture that damages mop heads and shoe soles) or too fine to hold the grip rating (a wash-down area where the slip resistance drops after weeks of water exposure). The system must match the actual use.

We size the aggregate, loading density and topcoat thickness to your specific facility type, not a generic specification. If your facility has both slip-resistant zones and smooth-finish areas, we coordinate the transition. We also work with commercial floor repair if sections of the existing slab have failed, and integrate with the rest of your commercial flooring plan.

Common questions

Slip-Resistant Flooring Questions, Answered

Grip ratings, aggregate types, durability and where slip-resistant is required.

Industry slip-resistance tests (such as dynamic coefficient of friction) measure how much grip a floor provides under wet and dry conditions. We specify the system to meet or exceed the target rating for your environment, and verify the finished floor against that target.
Silica sand is the standard for general anti-slip; quartz aggregate is more decorative and harder-wearing; proprietary aggregates exist for specific environments (chemical resistance, high-temperature). We pick based on use, durability and look.
A properly built system, aggregate broadcast into the body coat and locked under the topcoat, holds its slip rating for years. Surface-sprinkled aggregate fails much faster. The system construction is what makes the difference.
Slightly, yes, the texture catches more dirt than a smooth floor. But modern auto-scrubber pads and the right cleaning chemicals make it manageable in any commercial maintenance routine. We share cleaning guidance with the maintenance team at handoff.
Often, yes. A textured coating can sometimes be applied over a clean, sound existing floor to add slip resistance without removal. When the existing floor is already failing, full system removal and replacement is the honest answer.

Locker-room floor with proper grip rating. Members notice the traction, the maintenance crew can still clean it normally. Right balance of safety and practicality.

Slip-resistant flooring throughout the wet zones. The texture is comfortable under foot, not aggressive, but the grip rating is real. Patients and staff both benefit.
