Professional Rust-Oleum Coating Installation in Las Vegas

When your garage floor needs a coating that holds, we install Rust-Oleum EpoxyShield and RockSolid systems the way the manufacturer intends. That means grinding the slab to profile, running the full primer-and-topcoat sequence at the right temperature, and respecting the cure window. DIY kits fail because they skip the prep. We don't. Every project gets a free written estimate with a firm finish date.

  • Mechanical slab prep, always
  • Full coat sequence, manufacturer spec
  • Written estimate with cure dates

The prep is everything

Why Rust-Oleum Coatings Peel (and How We Stop It)

Rust-Oleum is the household name in garage coatings, which is exactly why so many DIY installs fail. The product itself is solid, but the retail kit assumes a clean, dry slab and a homeowner with a roller. Most Las Vegas garages are neither.

The real work happens before the coating touches concrete. A slab has to be ground or shot-blasted to the right profile, moisture tested, cracks and pits repaired, and the whole surface cleaned. Skip that and the epoxy or polyurea has nothing to bond to. Within a year, it peels at the tire tracks.

We grind every floor. Then we run the full EpoxyShield epoxy sequence or the faster RockSolid polyurea at the working temperature the product needs. The result is a coating that actually holds. See our epoxy garage floor and brand install work for the full picture.

Our method

Installing Rust-Oleum Coatings Step by Step

  1. Assess the slab and choose the system

We inspect the concrete, check moisture, and decide whether EpoxyShield (epoxy, longer cure, proven) or RockSolid (polyurea, fast cure, harder) fits your timeline and use.

  2. Mechanically prepare the surface

The slab is ground or shot-blasted to the surface profile the coating bonds to. Cracks are repaired, pits filled, and the floor is cleaned to bare concrete.

  3. Apply primer, body, and topcoat

The full Rust-Oleum system goes down at the right working temperature and timing. Primer, broadcast flake or color coat, and topcoat are applied in sequence with no shortcuts.

  4. Cure and hand over the floor

The coating cures to spec. You get the exact date the floor takes foot traffic and vehicles, plus the cleaning and maintenance routine that keeps it performing.

Two systems, two timelines

Choosing Between EpoxyShield and RockSolid

EpoxyShield is the classic Rust-Oleum garage epoxy. It's proven, cost-effective, and when installed with proper slab prep and the full coat sequence, it delivers a tough, sealed, flake-finished floor that handles daily use and looks sharp.

RockSolid is the polyurea upgrade. It cures faster, the topcoat is harder, and the floor is back in service in about a day. Choose RockSolid when downtime matters or the garage takes serious abuse. Both systems rely on the same prep discipline as our broader garage floor coating and brand installation practice.

Common questions

Rust-Oleum Coating Questions Answered

EpoxyShield vs RockSolid, why pro install matters, and what to expect in Las Vegas.

Because the kit is the easy part. EpoxyShield is the same product either way; the difference is mechanical slab prep, working temperature, the full coat sequence and the cure timing. Skip those and the coating peels.
EpoxyShield is an epoxy system, proven and cost-effective. RockSolid is a polyurea, harder, faster-curing, back in service in about a day. We pick based on use and downtime.
Yes, when installed pro-grade. The product chemistry resists road salt and hot-tire pickup; what fails is the bond when the slab was not prepped right. We grind every floor before any coating goes down.
Depends on the system. RockSolid polyurea is back in service in roughly a day; EpoxyShield wants a longer cure for full traffic. We hand over the exact dates with each install.
Yes, with proper prep. We grind back the failed coating, repair the slab, and rebuild the system the way it should have been done the first time, so the new coating actually bonds and holds.

Tried the kit a few years back, it peeled at the tires by spring. They ground it back, prepped properly and put down the same Rust-Oleum brand and it has held.

RockSolid for the polyurea cure speed. Down one weekend, parking on it the next. Hard topcoat shrugged off a winter of salt without any wear at the door.

Pro install of EpoxyShield with the broadcast flake. Looks like a showroom and dropped tools have not chipped it once.

Coated three rental garages in a week. Same Rust-Oleum brand the tenants recognise, but installed so it actually lasts. No callbacks.
